Britney Spears is my favorite American pop icon who broke sales record with her Britney Spears discography. Starting her career at age 16 years old, she immediately became famous for her dance songs and modern dance moves. So far, she has released seven studio albums and twelve compilation albums. These included 36 singles with majority of them making it to the Billboard charts as well as other music charts all over the world.

Albums Included In The Britney Spears Discography

There are seven albums included in the Britney Spears discography. Her first ever album which launched her career was ‘Baby One More Time’ which spawned the hit song with the same title. Her second album was ‘Oops!…I Did It Again’ which received recognitions for being the fastest selling album ever made by an American female pop artist. Her third album was a transition album which was self-titled ‘Britney’. The other four albums are ‘Blackout’, ‘Circus’, ‘In The Zone’ and her latest which is ‘Femme Fatale’.

Two Most Popular Albums In The Britney Spears Discography

Two of the most popular Britney Spears albums in my collection are her debut album ‘Baby One More Time’ and her second album ‘Oops!…I Did It Again’.

The first album was a rocking success, making more than 12 million in unit sales in the US and more than 28 million unit sales all over the world. It was actually the album that really skyrocketed her career.

Because of her instant popularity, people wanted more. So when her second album was finally released, it reached groundbreaking sales of 1,319,193 units on the first week after it was launched. I reached total sales of more than 10 million in the US and more than 24 million worldwide.

Major Music Influences

Britney Spears was majorly influenced by 80’s pop icons Madonna and Janet Jackson. You can clearly see it by the way she dances, in her daring stage performances and musical variety. Her other major influences included Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. She performed a lot of Whitney Houston songs during auditions and singing competitions.

Luckily enough for Britney, she was able to meet her two major influences Janet Jackson and Madonna. In fact, she even made a collaboration song with Madonna entitled ‘Me against the Music’ which is included in the album ‘In the Zone’.

Downfalls And Overall Accolades And Album Achievements

Britney Spears DiscographyBritney Spears is called today’s Pop Princess. She has received numerous awards and recognitions as an artist, despite her highly controversial personal life. Some of her downfalls included a failed marriage, bad relationships, too much partying and drug rehabilitation issues. However, what is so special about her is that she is able to pick herself up again after every life challenge and now she is back in the music industry bringing with her a lot of life lessons that she carries with her every single day.

Britney Spears said once in an interview that she wants to be a legend like Madonna. She is still very young and many fans still expect groundbreaking songs and albums from her. Her musical journey is far from over. One of her greatest achievements is probably her Britney Spears discography in which majority of her singles never fail to make it to the charts and reach at least a million in units sold all over the world.
